First plane ride

well we're taking a family trip to florida in a few weeks and i'm starting to get anxious.  what was i thinking?  i thought it would be okay to go when she was a baby because it would be easier than say, bringing a 2 year old.  i had no idea that she would be so squirmy and wiggly!  she has a 5-point harness for her high chair and that girl needs it!  the plane ride is going to be torture.  at least it will only be 3 hours or so.  and at least hubby will be with me to share in the squirminess.

any tips for travelling with baby?  we're getting an umbrella stroller instead of bringing our good one.  we're renting a car seat with the car so we'll pick that up once we get there.  bringing toys and food on the plane.  bringing a lovie (lovey?) even though she doesn't really care about that kind of thing yet.  the hotel is supplying a pack and play and a high chair.  renting bigger toys once we get there.  buying food and stuff like that once we get there.  i'm trying to limit what we're hauling down and back.

any other thoughts?  tried and true methods for baby travel?

a recent pic (with no cropping...)  :)

  1. Leave the husband and the baby in one row and you sit in first class with a mai tai :)

  2. well this advice is too late since you have your tickets already, but a lesson we learned was to fly at night with a baby. We flew from CT to Fl when K was 1. The flight down was rough. she wiggled, and wanted to get down and crawl/cruise and when she couldn't she cried.
Have a bottle for take off and landing. the sucking will help with pressure. GL

  3. Isn't she a little cutie? Kari, you just want to torture your big brother! I agree about the bottle and hopefully she'll sleep through the flight! I promise to be there to take her off your hands when you land - how's that for a promise? :) Love, Mom

  4. The twins were older when I first put them on a plane, but this still may work for Cassie...we wrapped a bunch of little things...balls, post-it notes, stuffies, etc. and they unwrapped them on the plane ride down. It kept them busy enough with the unwrapping, but then they also had little playthings to keep them entertained as well. I wonder if you'll pay for an extra seat next time!
