Running

i would have run toward it.

i don't say that to be heroic or to get attention.  i know i would have run toward it.  there's no thought to it...no consideration of family or other responsibilities.  you just know.

when i was watching the footage of the blasts yesterday, there were people running away and there were people running toward it.  i was so quiet when i was watching it...something was nagging me in the back of my mind.  i couldn't figure out what it was until today...then it came to me.  i wanted to be there.  i wanted to be helping.  i wanted to be back on my orthopedics floor at MGH because that's where i would be helpful.  that's where i should have been.

i talked to my mom tonight and told her i wanted to be there and she said she knew.  she said when she was watching it yesterday, she knew that i would have run toward it.  she knew before i did.

our city has come together in love, in support, and in anger.  as any yankees fan knows...don't mess with boston.  we'll be okay.  we'll run again.  we'll win.

  2. Very well put. Look what those Bostonians have done to get the guys responsible. I'm so very proud of you, knowing where you would have been if circumstances had been just a little different, knowing that you and your friends make such a difference every day. Keep the faith and continue to do what you do. I couldn't wish for any better children than the ones I have, let me assure you!!! Love, Mom
