Cassie's first birthday party

last weekend was cassie's first birthday party...the first child's birthday i've ever thrown.  i've helped with a couple, but never done it for my own.  obviously...that was stupid...this is my first kid.  anyway, it was quite overwhelming especially because my husband was away for business the week prior to the party.  luckily i have an awesome family and everyone chipped in by bringing something special.  

cassie slept through the first half hour of the party, but that was exactly what i wanted her to do!  when she woke up i got her dressed in her polka dot tights and special dress and brought her out to greet her guests.  she was a little bewildered, but in no time she was joining in the fun.  we had a brunch party with family and friends...homemade baked goods and egg casserole from GG, new york bagels and dessert delights from Papa and uncle adam, fruit salad and goodies from grandma and granddad (thank you thank you for cutting up all that fruit), an ultra special cake from aunt kari, and some cocktails from daddy - what is brunch without a mimosa or bloody mary?!  aunt kari made a cake that was a replica of cassie's favorite pal "lambie" which is a comfy rug she lies down on and gives kisses to (mwah!).  aunt bec helped with decorations and made a gorgeous photo salute to cassie, showcasing one picture from each month of her life.  it's still hanging up in my dining room...love it.  

after most of the people left we just had family sticking around to relax, so i put cassie in her birthday t-shirt and tutu.  that's when i realized i had put her in the wrong dress for the party!!!  wtf!  i spent weeks trying to find the perfect dress and totally put her in the wrong one!  i'm an ass. whatever, if that's my worst mistake...

we had a great time and i hope it shows :)  much love to our friends and family for sharing in this special time. someday cassie will realize how special she is and how much she is loved.  xoxoxoxo
