Swim class

last week we gave up music class, which we've been going to since cass was six months old, and switched to swim class...water babies to be exact. i wasn't thrilled to be the one going in the water with her. i'm not hung up about the bathing suit shit...it's the rest of it that i don't like. the changing, the wet shit, the changing. ugh. anyway, i signed us up and we went.

oh wait first we had to find a bathing suit that fit. i put four bathing suits on her before we found one that fit. that was fun. then the whole way there cass was saying "my no want to swim" and "my no want to go to da pool." awesome. so we get there and there is nowhere to park because some blood drive was going on. nowhere to park. after circling the lot about 317 times i found a spot. we haul ourselves in through the 23 degree cold and wind and make our way to the pool. it's about 1,258 steps from the front door and cass wants to be carried. awesome. next is the family changing room where i find myself taking my clothes off in front of grandpa. again...awesome. i find out my lock doesn't fit so i just pray that no one steals my shit while we're "swimming."

i haul cass out to the pool where we are ten minutes late to a thirty minute class and she promptly starts crying. she cried almost the whole time. the teacher scolded us (read: me) twice. wtf! i had to hold cass the whole time...there was no swimming, kicking, jumping, sliding. nothing but tears. we got out and i was all discombobulated and it took twenty minutes for us to get out of there. i was not looking forward to going back, but was dedicated to doing the best for my child.

so i went back. she was in a pretty good mood on the way there so i just crossed my fingers. we got there early this time and cass got out of her own clothes. grandpa was nowhere to be seen so i didn't feel weird changing. we got in to the pool and no tears! she was smiling! no shit! smiling! she kicked and swam and did the slide and did a back float and talked to the teacher and laughed and everything. when the class was over, i had my stuff all organized this time, so i grabbed it and ran in to a changing room and we were an awesome team. we got out of there in ten minutes this time. doing better!

the funniest part of changing is this little ditty cass does each week...when i take off my suit she says very loudly, "mommy's boobies!" and when i put my bra on, she gets all surprised and says, "where are mommy's boobies?" funny kid.
