Weekend away

finally i got a weekend to myself...a weekend to catch up with my sister (the fabulous author of this blog)...a weekend to give kisses to my favorite twins...a weekend to sleep...sleep...sleep.  if you follow this blog you know i've been needing some sleep lately.  for real.

the first night there i didn't sleep well.  not sure what the problem was...the pillows?  the beer?  (we went out for sushi and beer)  the loneliness?  the silence?  not sure.  we spent saturday doing fun things...took the twins out shopping for their 5th birthdays.  i haven't been in that big old toy store for a while, but i need to go back because i had fun.  then we did some shopping alone and got some iced coffee drinks...fun sister things.  went in the pool in the afternoon where my BIL threw his kids around, eliciting laughter and screams.  fun times.

the second night i sure was looking forward to a good long night of sleep.  except that about 10 minutes after i went to bed the husband called and said our sick little baby had a febrile seizure and they were on their way to the hospital in an ambulance.  WTF?!?!  what the hell am i supposed to do all the way from here?  my first thought was "how fast can i rent a car?"  that was dumb as it would take like 8 or 10 hours to drive home, but still.  so i had to sit there glued to my cell phone trying to help my husband and my baby from hundreds of miles away.  poor guy was there all alone with her and as it turns out, it wasn't the best place for her to be.  it all turned out to be fine.  he got her home around 2am and she went to sleep.  she was sick and cranky today, but no more seizures.  let's hope tonight is okay (cross your fingers you loyal blogreaders).

a funny thing happened the day i was supposed to leave on my trip...i had a terrible feeling in the pit of my stomach.  i told my husband that i didn't want to go.  i just knew something bad was coming.  i told him and my MIL (who was driving my babe up to NH) to be extra careful on the road.  i made him promise to give fever medicine round the clock.  but still something happened.  that little voice really does know what it's talking about...

a big shout out to our sweet neighbors who came out when the ambulance came, who went to the hospital with husband and babe, and who went back to the hospital in the middle of the night to bring them home.  big thanks, warm hearts, wet tears to them for being so kind :)

  1. No words of wisdom here for this one! It was a tough few hours for you all, huh? But, luckily, it worked out well. You had a little time with your sister and her family and hubby and daughter had some special bonding time! Love to all, GG
