A bunch of crap

yup that's what i brought to the hospital...a bunch of crap. i just finished unpacking my hospital bag today (yes it's two weeks after i got home...give me a break, i have a newborn!). anyway, i spent weeks packing this bag. i consulted articles, friends, family, the internet...all to pack the perfect bag. and i did pack the perfect bag. it weighed a ton but it had EVERYTHING a girl could need when in labor and in the hospital.

well guess what, i didn't even take out most of what was in this perfectly packed bag! i wasn't allowed to eat my snacks (during labor...i had some later i think), i wouldn't wear my own pajamas or underwear (yuck, labor is gross), i forgot about my lollipops and slippers, i totally ignored the fact that i even packed my stress/tension relief serum (damn i could have used that during the 20+ hours of labor), never thought about using my ipad or kindle, and didn't get a chance to wear my bathing suit (i was going to use the tub during labor to ease pain).

here's what i did use (just in case you're advising another pregnant woman on what to bring):
  • ponytail holder (it was wrapped around my finger but i did unpack it)
  • nursing pads
  • nursing bras
  • makeup
  • shower toiletries
  • hair dryer
  • brush
  • clothes (for day one going in, day three for class, and day four going home - otherwise just wore the johnny)
  • socks and sneakers (see above)
  • pink blankie
  • pillow
  • cell phone charger and cell phone
  • vaseline and lip gloss (it's dry in there)
  • mp3 player and speakers (for music during labor)
i should have brought my own towel. the hospital towels were small and pathetic and terrible when you have tender areas. i should have remembered to use my robe, especially when visitors were there. someone should have told me to brush my hair. (that last part doesn't really fit here, but i think i'm just trying to justify what i looked like in the day 2 pictures!)

i think that's it. hope this helps someone...

  1. What class did you have to attend?

I wouldn't have used my own pj's either!
